its only a 'new' bait to the public!! Loads of people have been using it for the last 2-3 years!!
For the record I still use Grange on certain waters, and geoff kemps red zing gets an outing every now and again when I feel like like rolling!!!

Default Bait

Most baitcompanies still sell the original mixes, although I believe they tweak them slighlty every year or so. So Nash scopex squid is not quite the original Scopex squid mix. I would imagine the B5, Active 8, the grange etc.. are all being tweaked slightly to keep catch rates up and becasue of availability of products used in the bait over many years. In essence the same base mix which is what the fish are eating but minor changes to the bait profile, sweeteners, enhancers etc...

Most the major bait companies bring out new bait each year I imagine to sell to the mass of carp anglers! it is big business for them. Also to try and get the edge on the other bait companies. All to catch the angler more than the fish but you cant deny if a bait is going into a lake on a regular basis the fish will eat it. It is how long it last's before it blow's! It can also be costly to establish a bait on a water were a lot of the same bait is going in.

Just my two pennies worth

I am a true and firm believer that bait companies make a fortune from clever marketing from Carpers. You only have to visit a farm wholesalers to realise what these companies are marking their products up by. I think carp angling is FAR too comercial and the carp anglers '****' approach to baits and tactics is preyed upon by the bait and tackle companies to the extent that from an outsiders point of view the sport is confusing at best and terrifying and worst to your average fair weather angler looking to start off.

HOWEVER

It was a very small water and fish must have been swimming over other baits to get to it. Very conclusive that on that day at least it was unbeatable. Maybe they are right

i must admit m8 the mainline baits are really dear and i do use cheaper baits which are excellent but id heard the cell was producing on a certain water so i fished the cell on one rod and my usual bait on the other ( probe no more than 20 to 30 yards away from each other ) and the cell outfished my usual 6 to 1 on the first time and 2 to 0 on the second trip !
the only downside to it is the price !!!

theres no denying that mainline baits catch a lot of fish! but its overpriced,i think the reason they work so well is a lot of waters see a lot of mainline baits,so the fish treat it as natural food, take redesmere, activ 8 took it apart, but everbody was on activ 8,so its getting pre baited even when your not fishing

Fished a water for a weekend a couple of months ago.Its not a hard fished water and has not seen much bait, so nothing is established on there.

I fished a pretty cheap bait but still a food source. Two of the lads fished the cell both for just one night of the weekend(different nights). There was 3 runs that weekend all to my rods, the cell was probably on the fish as the cell anglers were only yards away from me.They never got a sniff.I wont pay over 7-8 quid for any ready rolled bait it makes no sense when you can get local bait for around this price. My home rolled baits costing just 3-4 quid will catch consistently and still feed the fish.My latest bait costs even less and the fish seem to like it

Theres plenty of decent local bait to choose from its probably better quality bait than mainline and its cheaper

They said activ8 was a combination of,in their opinion,8 of the finest carp catching attractors, then came Assassin 8,(the perfect ten attractors) and its been a bit of a convoy of witchcraft in a freezer bag ever since...

Many still argue that Activ8/Maple 8 cannot be beaten,so why so many almost yearly releases?-its getting as bad as 'Rolling Stones-the best of',which comes out AT LEAST once a year!

They should take a leaf out of Wilmotts book-if it aint broke, leave it-B5 has been out for...ever and yet he doesn't see fit to release a 'new' 'better' bait for the sake of it...

i have to agree with you on this one ollie they do take the biscut on there releases its just to catch the angler the real companys are the ones that dont bring a new bait out for the sake of it, its simple if they cant better there current bait why bother bringing out another people will just think there previous baits not working as good and wont by as much of that.
