I generally soak mine for 24 hours and then boil for 30 mins. Just add a load of salt or sugar to mine. And sometimes pick out some hookbaits and leave them soaking in loads of betaine.

Thumbs up

hi m8,well to be a bit diff try red maize its got more suger in than the yellow, what i would do is soak it for 2to3 days boil it for 30mins.and then add some minamino ppc around 50ml per 5kg of mix and some robbin red.you will find the red maize splits a lot more than the yellow,oh it also takes on alot more water in the soaking stage hope this will help....

red maize splits more than yellow? howwould you give that the bigun then on a cast if its prone to splitting and falling off? odd !

margin work possibly, red maize would be an idea if fish are wising up to the yellowperils!

as for flavouring nah not for me, o'naturel ! soak and boil and let it loose in the water !

Top tip, soak a small handful of maize for hookers in a film canister of talin or betalin. (betalin is hinders version)

Carefully Hollow out a few bits and superglue yellow foam into the shell then soak em in the betalin for a balanced bait and or pop up.

Suprising what we,ve never heard of, does that mean we know everything worth knowing chesh??

Takes 10 seconds and a craft knife, someone showed it me, it works very very well.

Every ones on plastic. Follow the crowds catch what the crowds catch.........................

as i said no disrespect!

havent professed to knowing everything and probably never will do!

what i was getting at is the intricity (spelling) of hollowing out a piece of maize to fill it with foam, thats a small peice of foam going in, you would have to be pretty good with a craft knife (they are bloomin sharpe as well) to create such a small hole in a little peice of maize...

im not going to get into a slanging match about who has caught how many on what bait etc... just icant see why rigs and baits should be messed with that much, keep it simple

and to imply i follow the crowds hhhmmmmmm

No disrespect taken and no slanging match. Ive been carping since i was 14 and im 43 now, stilll learn lots new every season. Try it, dont try it, just passing it on..................... freedom is choice.

Suppose if you want a balance bait and dont trust your modelling skills you could shape the yellow foam and soak it in the betalin and fish it on the hair over a soaked full piece of maize. Depends how much attention to detail you want.............its still simple either way.
