Yes matey hair rig em,the jumbo sixed ones are great, you can also drill them and add cork to make a pop up presentation I usually fish them as a bottom bait over hemp with liquidised tigers and a couple of free offerings

1's, 2's or 3's mate, I don't think it really matters. Nuisance fish pending that is, Ive tried up to about 7 - 8 to try and stop roach and bream etc! Generally though, id use 1 or 2.

I don't over complicate the rigs either with nuts, just a knot less knotted mono rig with a long shank size 8 - 10.

Then fish that with about 5 or 6 dried out nuts in a PVA stick mix net, just fishing for 1 carp at a time.

drill a couple and chop up a handfull margin fish them or fish within throwing distance as choppies dont throw that far really

make sure they are properly prepared though soak for 24 hours then boil them!!!

cant be too careful with particles like tigers (or do like me and buy them ready cooked)

AS everyone has mentoned the jumbo ones. Try the little ones and just hair rig one. You will probably be fishing them over small particle feed so why make them bigger than needed.
