B5. Would still use it if it was a few of quid cheaper. Used it for 7 years solid but now a days i use a hell of lot more kilos of boilies and its to expensive.

Default Boilies

theres a lot of very good baits knocking around.I have caught lots of carp on many different boilies, the most I have caught have probably been on Premiers spiced fish mix or my own fishmeal mix. If you give them something thats good for them you will catch the fish over long periods. Location is a very big part of carp fishing though. They're greedy buggers and will scoff anything at the right time but you will definitely have the better fish and more consistent results on a good quality boilie over time. But as for the best its hard to say...my homemades....well they're not bad at all...lol...

a mate supplies my boilies now £6 a kilo. Once id caught a few lumps on it my confidence in it soared............ thats the key for me, confidence in your bait so you never have to wprry about it and can concentrate on location and presentation.

I was always supremely confident in B5 but now i save £40 every 10 kilo!

yeah would agree with you there ian, confidence is everything in carp fishing no point going out on a sesh thinking your not going to catch, this make you fish less productively, always go in to each session with confidence this also aplies for you prefered choice of bait
imo

When I first started carping I changed the bait that I was using at the drop of a hat, often thinking the bait was why I hadn't caught and other people had. Guess I was always searching for that magical ultimate bait that every new boilie launched suggests that it is

There are more good baits now than ever before, and I haven't rolled bait myself for about 4 years

Would be interested as a poll maybe to see which Monkeys have changed their chosen boilie at least once over the last 12 months, and whether it is mainly the newcomers that fall for the marketing as I certainly did

My favourites over the years -

Zenon Bojko strawberry readymades, only readymade that I caught on fairly consistently.

Nutrabaits Big Fish Mix, salmon and cranberry, first bait I rolled myself in any quantity and had good success with. Also used solar squid and octopus or Hutchie's monster crab.

Enervite with cranberry and molasses, the red enervite is still one of the best smelling mixes around for me, especially for a winter bait. Is a pain to roll though.

Solar Quench

Was put on Snail and Shell about 5 yrs ago, not rolled bait myself since.

ive changed bait 2 or 3 times this year, but i think it paid off got some decent fish while other anglers were having a quiet time sticking to the same bait, i prebait all year on one bait but catching fish it seems they wise up to it and when i change baits for a few months i carry on catching i believe fish like change and like its been said theres alot of good quality bait out there at the moment.
