Default Nuts

If i bought a tub of brazil nuts from tesco will i still have to soak and boil, what is the difference between these and dried as obviously we can just eat them straight from the tub, i have done a search but cannot only find snippets and the original sticky on particles, thanks for any advice.

Yes you will have to soak them for at least 24 hours and then boil them until they soften up a little. Our digestive systems can process nuts the carp can not. Nuts come out the other end pretty much the same as they went in. If you do not soak and boil them, they can swell up inside the fish potentially causing problems.

fish them with a cork plug inside to critically balance and shave off the outer skin

Thanks lads, do they still retain their hardness after soaking and boiling and do they take on flavours like putting multimino as a soak

They will take on flavor, but I've always had my best results leaving them exactly 'as is'.

Probably one of the most underrated baits there is for carp - caught nearly as many on Brazil's as I have on worms!

I was just thinking visually they would be a good attractor but to actually get the carpin in feeding mode putting a food signal there, maybe balance them as netbuster said with cork soaked in a flavour or multimino.

You can try them however you like mate, there’s no right or wrong way – just whatever you find works best for you.

I have messed with tons of different presentations, but always found that my best results came from mounting half a nut (lengthways) on the hair, fished over a mixture of chewed up brazils & hemp (with added oil for attraction).

Brazils are a great winter alternative and will sometimes catch when all else fails also macadamia nuts are good too and make brilliant wafter baits as they are so light they just sink under the weight of the hook . I fish brazils as said before but scrape a full nut down to shavings and put it in a pva bag and fish it with a whole or half brazil .

Just experiment and find what works best for you
