I have caught on the green one also put a bit of cheese on at the same time, but the last time i did that must have been 3yrs ago not really bothered since. I think its one of them fad things where you try it a couple of times then forget about it because something else has come into view if you know what i mean.

Have had loads on it over the years, but it’s not something I’ve used for a long time –apart from a quick dabble on Fanshawe after Joe put me onto it as a going method a few seasons ago.

Mainly used the original one and was a great substitute for luncheon meat on many waters as it stayed on the hair for longer and was not as easy for the roach and bream to nibble away at. I know of several big fish that have fallen to it, and lets be honest, as a human grade ‘meaty’ snack, it must be as good (in taste terms) as many fishmeal based boilies out there.

I reckon price would be the only thing to put me off using it – I bet it’s not far off a quid a stick nowadays?

Good bait all the same.

Have used it a fair bit, as Julian said down on fanshawe and seemed to work well. Havent taken it onto harder waters as i feel more confident in the boilies i am using so dont want to be messing about too much.

Have always used the green so cant comment on others. Its wierd why it works, especially in winter as the stuff comes back as a lump of white lard once its been in the water for a while. Strange.

Is alot of garlic smell too it though which has to help.

Joe

Joephus has success on peperami at Fanshawe, overbeds of pellets.

i used it not so long ago for stalking with zero sucess.

not that i wont be using it again, i think the oils and aromas given off by the little stick cant not attract our cypry friends

its a very underused bait in my opinion, why? because people are frightened to experiement, they would rather blank using their boilies and pellet approach and blame the fish not feeding, rather than think..w ell if they dont want a boilie what will they want?

try it... you might find you like it

I've used the green one, skinned and fished approx 1" long on a hair, had good results with it on day ticket waters but like Joephus I have great confidence in boilies on my current water so haven't tried it on there.....yet
Its a bit of an ANIMAL

I've only used it a couple of times a few winters ago on a local pool and caught a few fish. Just used a small piece of the green stuff with a spicy stick mix

Found it worked better in smaller slivers. A few mill thick little discs and even cut an angle in the disc so it looked less round and different to a boilie when i was getting desperate for a bite.

Used it loads and caught loads on it, always carry a few sticks in the ruck. Caught on capesthorne garden pool on it in winters passed.
Great bait, works well over small bag of halibuts.
Hammered them one summer on rami on a water when everyone was blanking on boilies.

Now now Ian you know you are not supposed to discuss PAAS waters on other forums we may be able to narrow it down to 1 of 100s as to which water you were fishing ...lol
