If im honest, I believe boilies are banned on certain fisheries (mostly match/pleasure lakes) because of the stigma attatched to carp fishing. Whether we like it or not, there is a divide between carp and match anglers, mostly ethical opinions more than anything else.
We as carp/specialist anglers know, within reason, that boilies dont harm fisheries. But you'll usually find that if boilies are banned, so are floating baits, hemp, nuts etc, basically anything to do with modern day carp fishing.
These are baits that are perfectly safe,
when used properly. So why ban them? Because of lack of understanding of how to safely use them. As is the case with boilies.
Unfortunately, these few people that abuse the 'forbidden' baits of the carp angler are always going to spoil it for the responisble anglers amongst us.
