Bright pop ups over beds of pellet and particles?

Have any monkeys had any sucess using bright pinapple pop ups over beds of pellet or particles, my mate is fishing a water at the moment spent quite a bit of time on there and had nothing. I think he is doing everything right he just hasnt been on the fish but there are people turning up using a baitboat piling in half a kilo of pellets with bright pop ups over it and having big hits.
After watching korda part 5 i came to the conclusion never again to use pop ups over beds of bait and on flat hard bottoms where there is no need. But after hearing about these mulitiple catches on this tactic i am thinking about giving it a good go. Has anyone had much sucess on this or are there any other mad things that you wouldnt usually try that you tried and caught on?

What on earth has need got to do with it? Like em or loath them pop ups are a tactic. People have different views and different amounts of confidence in them. I have said before, the Korda DVD`s are just that, KORDA DVD`s, it is a company trying to sell you something. Just because they are showing you things, does not mean that is how it is all the time, they have cut and edited their videos to show you what they want you to see.

The people with the bait boats don`t seem to be having a problem, do they? So why should you or your friend? providing you are on the fish.

I have to agree with the above statement. I think you answered your own question really Callum, if your mate isn't on the fish then it doesn't matter what method/technique he uses he isn't going to catch something that isn't there. Tell him to first find the fish and then use whatever method he is confident with and results should follow

Yes i no what you mean, but i meant to ask do you lot have confidence fishing pop ups over pellets and particles? Or would you prefer to fish with a matching bait?

As already stated dont read 100% into the korda dvd's...they provide some good points but all fish in different lakes/situations are different.Pop ups over pellet have caught a ruck of fish and will continue to and it sounds like they are on your mates lake....so get on it..... All baits will work at some time or other popped up be it maggots, black eyed beans(good one) or boilies or even the pellets themselves just have a bash.The good thing with popped up baits is they tend to give very good hookholds...bang in the bottom lip...

Every water is different and the fish act, feed and behave in different ways, just because something works on one water it won't work everywhere and theres a chance that when you think you've cracked it your method/bait will blow as the fish wise up.
I've seen alsorts from the fish not taking anything but bottom baits to people catching on zig rigs that there spodding over.
So be brave try the things others won't and keep an open mind the people that do best don't follow there a step ahead.
