Lightbulb Surface Baits

Now the weather is starting to improve,my mind is turning once again to my goal, of banking a surface caught carp, which upto date has eluded me ,I have an ideal water for my mission and was wondering what baits you guys/gals have found successful, other than the old faithful mixer and bread flake, has anyone ever tried popcorn?

Personally i don't think you can beat the good old mixer, try a little bit of flavouring.

try soaking chum mixers in chilli oil until all the oil is gone and they go hard again cracking lil` edge, the oil takes a lot of ripples off the water and if you don`t soak all your freebies it`s a little easier to distinguish the hookbait at greater distances.also don`t be in such a rush to cast in if you wait long enough the fish normally start gouging them down and get a bit easier to catch...

feed plain doggies..........use rubber ones on the hook.......... you dont waste time baiting up.....they sit brilliantly without any shot put on in the little hole.....as for rubber banding them ..........very frustrating

I use the rubber ones aswell, there cracking little things, no more gluing etc.

What i do is get the small dark green pond pellets from pet shops and mix in a few chummies. The carp go bezzerk for the pond pellets, almost pre occupied on them. Kind of like hemp on the bottom with a boilie over the top. They dont catapult very far, if i need to get them out any distance i spod 'em out. Ive used 'em for years now and everywhere i go the carp, once they find them, love 'em!

Went to gawsworth on monday when it was nice and sunny. All the fish were on the surface and guess what. I had no mixers or other floating baits I resorted to using a cut down bright yellow pineapple popup. They swam off as soon as they saw it

Had a similar discussion with another angler on this. I used to use the artificial ones, but they are a little too bouyant, and supergluing them or banding them allows for them to be sucked under, whereas these offer more resistance and you have to actually strike, in my opinion.

Not sure about popcorn bet but i have had success with different cereals, sugar puffs are brilliant, last better than bread, easier to hook than chummies n the fish love the taste!

Sugar Puffs are great surface bait. Also Chum Mixer is a favourite of mine.
