i would just use them in equal measures it will roll well enough. But it wont be a very nutritional mix...just a flavour carrier really. To make it a little more nutritious and to add more attraction put about 30% white fishmeal in....and if you have the money maybe some robin red about 10%.Theres loads of permutations on bait just have look about for more info. The cc moores website gives good general info for inclusion rates theres others on this forum with plenty of bait knowledge I am sure they will help you out as well..

Soya Isolate......Approx 90% Protien.......add 1-2oz per 10ozmix
Soya Flour........Approx 50% Protien.......add 1-3oz per 10oz mix
Semolina..........fairly low in protien .......use 1-5oz per 10oz mix
Dried Milk ........approx 23% protien .......add 1-3oz per 10oz mix
Baby milk ........fairly low in protien ........add 1-3oz per 10oz mix
Complan..........fairly low in protien.........add 1-3oz per 10oz mix

Semolina:-.......high in carbohydrates - can be used with or without eggs. It is the hard grains left after milling wheat flour. Can be used up to 75% of the mix, or as little as 1oz. Would be advisable to add Casein to the mix as the baits would not be hard enough without it.

Soya Flour......Ground Soya beans, 50% protien, 8oz semolina, 2oz Soya.

Hope this is of some help to you.

PJW.

hiya mate,

first of all, as deano said all that wil creat is a flavour carrier mix which will have no long term food value and will not be accepted as food for very long, especially with all the high protein baits going into lakes these days, if you didn't want to use fishmeal you could use isolted milk proteins such as rennet casein, acid casein, whey protein concentrate etc..... and make sure you have some form of starch in there too as this will make the boilies protein content much more metabolisable, i could go on all day abotu bait formulation but if you want a more detailed description and maybe some recipes just drop me a pm

cheers

andy

some good advice but if moneys an issue then dont bother with the milk proteins as they are good but very expensive upto £10 a kg.I have done ok on just cheap as chips provimi 66 fishmeal around a pound a kilo.As Andy says theres loads of bait ingredients around and if money is no issue the worlds your oyster....if you can afford it the low temperature fishmeals are the one but the budget stuff still works, fish love it...

try these guys www.ccmoore.com

the have loads of stuff for makig your own mixes and at very good prices they also have a section for proven boilie recipes where you can just take them and use them yourself or personlise them by replacing certain ingredients with other.

some good points there deano the milk proteins are expensive but highly effective another thing that is worth ago if you want to steer away from fishmeal but still use meat proteins is cc moore's new poultry protein meal or purified meat meal both are highly digestable and high in protein,

Here are the building blocks when it comes to boile making

1st you need a binder to roll the mix, this nees to be between 30 - 50% of the mix. The most commonly used are semolina and soya flour, there are others. The more you add the cheeper the mix becomes and the easyer it will be to roll.

2nd you will need protein - just add something with high protein which is genuerally fishmeal / milk protein, fishmeal is cheep and the fish like it.

3rd Texture this allows more flavour to disperse and gives the bait the edge, Add things like crushed seeds crushed snails oyster grit even egg shells.

4) Soluble ingredients Vatamealo or lamlac can be used dont use more than 20%

5) Vitamins/minerals / trace elements. As mensioned in another thred Minamino is the best supplement but there are many others that are just as good.

6) Oils to add the attraction best to use hemp oil but salmon oil and others are just as good.

7) last but not leastFlavour / Colour you are best experimenting with small amounts of bait untill you find something you like, dont just throw aload of flavours in this will overpower the mix just afew flavours work well

For instance

25% soya flour
25% semolina
10% acid cassin
10% rennet casein
10%lamlac
20% cruched snails
20ml hemp oil
20ml minamino
then the flavours

Hope this helps
