Default Bait Choice 2006 - Transferred

Author Topic: Bait choice 2006 (Read 349 times)

Right then, we are a bit into 2006 now, have we all sorted out what bait we plan to use for the coming months?
Personally, I was orginally going to stick with the BFM+Cranberry, because its just so consistant, but i noticed that Nutrabaits are releasing a BFM+Pinapple and N-butyric which does sound very tempting
For spod type baits, going to sort myself out with plenty of Trouties of mixed sizes from trent baits, and get plenty of hemp from Haiths
Oh and of course i have my special home made flouro jobbies
Whats your choice?

mr Monkey dont bother buying your hemp from haiths get it locally its far cheaper than paying the postage costs etc...
Pineapple and N-Butyric has been out for a while wonder what its like with the BFM hhmm interesting though
if your bauit is consistent though the BFM + cranberry then why change? stick to what you know and try in small doses the new baits and see what sort of response you get!
are you buying it shelf life and ready made? there are cheaper alternatives as you are probably aware

Haiths is local, 10min drive

I love using N-butyric, and pinapple is a awesome flavour, just be interesting to have a gander thing is, lets face it,most baits are made from the same stuff, just in different quanities

Generally get Rollin baits to roll some for me, i know its a damn sight cheaper to roll you own, i just dont have the time or inclination to do it

Tigers are one of them baits i have either done really well on, or couldn't buy a bite on all my best results came by fishing one or two mini tigers of small patches of hemp and chopped tigers
Not a bait i use much to be honest

I'll be using the nutrabaits big fish mix this year with a few added extras aswell as a bait that me and a friend are making from scratch.

This year I cant ignore the 3D from Nutrabaits with added black pepper oil. One of me buddies on Patshulls Church Pool did really well on it last year, if it works there it'll work anywhere! I'll also have a bag of the old sweetened tiger nuts with me, they love 'em.

Marine Halibut Pellets my "confidence" bait. Fake corn and maize were as good for me last year over particles.
Ill have to add snail and shell, and shellfish B5 to that list for this year also.

same as 2002 2003 2004 and 2005.......B5 no need to change.
Some baits catch anglers.others catch the fish.

going to use the b5 this year. but on my water red fishmeals seem not to produce that much. but a couple of lads used an attractor bait with plum flavour and had some respectful results, thats where i got the idea. but i am going to roll my own and make them into pellets (sizes4 to 12) to add into parti blend. would anyone recommend flavouring the partiblend with b5 or am i playing with fire? and can anyone give me reassurance on the b5? i could really do with it this year.

Heard from a few people that BCUK hemp is quite good, but the boilies are crap

High quality base mix from a small local firm/mate + mainline activator and a good dose of RR will do for me this year, £65 for 10kg rolled i havn't got the time to roll my own this year.

Got 3 kilo of tigers that have been fermenting in their juice for 6 months with tonnes of robin red in there aswell they should make excellent alternative hookbaits,

Already got 100kg of various particles stored up

Been thinking about this during the last week or so, might instead of going for the BFM get some Grange base mix and roll my own baits, seems at the minute i have the time to do this and not really the money to pay somebody else to do it may add a bit of RR to the mix

Hi Nmonkey

Iv rolled my own for 2 years now, but now im stoping havn't got the time

I did it with a mate, much easier we went through about 6x10 kg buckets of active-8 which makes about 85kg of rolled bait in the last year and not one was the same in consistency

thats why iv moved on to a similar but much higher quality and reliable mix

RR can make any bait good

I roll all my own hookbaits anyway, so it's just a extension of that, probably won't be rolling anywhere near the amount you have, just a few kilo's here and there

No worries then

it takes me and a mate 2 hours to roll 4kg if you include cleaning up time

not ideal!

You're right its not ideal, but as i'm out of work at the minute rolling my own suits me time wise and definatly money wise and tbh i'm not planning on using as many boilies this year as usual, my plan is based around plenty of pellets/hemp and a few other goodies

As ever I'll be sticking with the trusty stinky particle mix and hemp, but I aim to experiment with pop-ups a little more this year. Also Steve has a nice little mix coming on and on the runs waters that I fish I aim to try out his baits and give him my feedback.
