Author Topic: particles (Read 236 times)
Phil highlander Global Moderator Lets see how many different ways we can find to do our particles and what we use and put in with them? myself, i use a pigeon weaning mix 50/50 with hemp and a small handfull of maize. Soak for 2 days and then boiled in a pressure cooker for 15 minutes . Leave it to ferment for 24hrs then get the spod out. « Last Edit: 24 Jan, 2006, 21:49 by Phil highlander » Link to Post - Back to Top 62.255.32.11 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chesh Global Moderator i use a certain moderators particles and to be honest with you its pukka !!!!! unless i run out and its a varitey of different seeds with maize, flaked maize, and juice ! soaked then boiled then thrashed in with a spod or carefully placed in margins lol Link to Post - Back to Top 84.69.112.220 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Nige Administrator Northern-Monkeys Co-Editor Hemp: Soak for around 48 hours, then boil woth some sugar and chilli's until split and show white. Then leave to cool and go as mingin' and manky as horrible n spod out Link to Post - Back to Top Logged -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- lidoman NMFF Super Poster Don't use particles all the time but have done ok on a few...some cheap stuff from the pet shop called 'Wild Bird'...this used to contain aniseed amongst other things..(sunflower seeds, wheat I think flaked maize) but the last lot I bought didn't so I didn't bother using it. Prep for this was easy pour boiling water over in a bucket stick the lid on and it was ready after about 24hrs. Have done well on a mix of hemp, maize, sweetcorn and pellets(trout and CSL). Soak the hemp and add chilli and ground ginger. I have recently bought a spod rod so i will be giving the particles some hammer this year Link to Post - Back to Top 80.5.160.6 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- marker NMFF Super Poster i've been a particle angler for over a decade now tigers, maize, chick peas, maples, groats and hemp are the ones i've used the most either on their own or in a combination the best combinations i've used are groats/tigers together and hemp/maize together Link to Post - Back to Top 62.6.139.11 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- pjw NMFF Regular I've had a few good seasons using a mixture of hemp, conditioning feed mix, mini tigers and maple peas. All mixed together and allowed to soak for 48 hours up then boiled for 15 minutes and allowed to stand again for 48 hours to allow all the juices to form. Slimey as hell and stinks to high heaven, but the fish seem to like it. Link to Post - Back to Top 82.24.224.167 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- TartanCarper NMFF Super Poster The particles i use the most are : loads of hemp, along with tigers, mini tigers, chopped tigers, maize, flaked maize, corn, maples, groats, peanuts, chopped peanuts, & mixed pigeon feeds. Don't normally use them all together - but refine it down depending where i'm going etc. Always good to have a selection to choose from. Cheap n' cheerful ! Tend to soak most of them for minimum 24 - 48 hrs, then boil for approx 30 mins. Will add one or two cheap liquids to soak in... Link to Post - Back to Top 84.64.57.202 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- whogotmelighter NMFF Super Poster one of my favorites is the humble peanut. soaked for 24hrs then boiled for half an hour, top bait but a lot of places don't allow it. Link to Post - Back to Top 195.93.21.98 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Steve Baker Global Moderator For the particle mix which i use, which is just pigeon conditioner type stuff with a few other bits and pieces thrown in like hemp and maize etc, i just cover it with boiling water and leave in a sealed bucket for 24hrs and then boil it for about half an hour. I then just leave it to go all slimy for a few days before i use it « Last Edit: 25 Jan, 2006, 20:24 by Steve Baker » Link to Post - Back to Top 80.5.160.6 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Phil highlander Global Moderator i wonder why we all like it slimy ? for me its the fact that it really does 'hang' in the water for a good time and once the fish are starting to have it, it starts to lift and colour the water up again Link to Post - Back to Top 62.255.32.11 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Steve Baker Global Moderator Like you said Phil the slime hangs in the water and creates masses of attraction before the fish start to feed and even more so when they really start avin it. To add to the attraction even more i sometimes add powdered milk to the mix which creates a lovely white cloud in the water column Link to Post - Back to Top 80.5.160.6 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- bazauk NMFF Super Poster the particles i use are red band ( like parti blend but cheaper), tigers, maples, maize. thers a good feeling knowing you have preperd it your self and looks well carpy. Bring it to the boil and put in a air tight bucket, leave overnight and freeze Link to Post - Back to Top 62.254.0.30 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chesh Global Moderator carnation milk is a good un as is coconut milk ! you could also wizz a bit in the blender and add it back to the mix as this also gives off a cloudy affect yum yum cant wait to get back out with the particles -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- joephus NMFF Regular Hemp - boil for 45 mins - put in bucket and take to the lake and use. Like everything fresh and tasty myself. Also use pigeon conditioner with some tigers and hemp mixed in. I also blend about 1/4 of my hemp into a white slop and mix that back in with the rest, lovely!! Link to Post - Back to Top 213.121.151.194 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- monstermunch NMFF Newcomer i found leaving your partiblend a bit more crunchier does the trick, blending your particles and adding it back to the mix seems like a good idea, i used to do it with hemp in my match days, a real winter winner, cant see why it souldnt work with the old cypry's either.
