Default Base Mix Shelf Life

Been trying to get hold of some Nutrabaits Enervite before the weekend, finally managed to get some, the bag looked a bit dusty but was packaged and sealed.
When i opened the bag there was a club nutrabaits leaflet in it dated from 1997! the base mix looks and smells okay, what shelf life do base mixes have?
im not sure im going to use it, 9 years is a long time!!!

Default base mix

I have used base mix that has been kept in air tight container for 2/3 years and still caught.Probably the potency of some of the ingredients may not be what it was but it may still be alright....but 9 years is a lot longer than 3...lol..lol..give it a try maybe just on one rod....so as not to put all your eggs in one basket so to speak..

Mixing it with BFM, probably be okay but us carp anglers need 110% confidence in our tackle and bait, not sure if i can sit behind the rods for 3 days with this on my mind! might just bin it and make sure i get some in the new packaging, at least i know its fresh.
I cant win, i used to buy ready rolled from a reputable company but the batches varied in smell too many times that i had to go back to the old school and make my own.
Makes you wonder how old the base mix is you buy in the shops, i think i saw somewhere that people thought it would be a good idea to have use by dates or even the date of manufacture stamped on the packaging.
