Wouldn't fanny about trying to make your own base mix at this stage mate, get a bag of 50/50 from Richworth or Nutrabaits, most readymades comprised from this type of base mix and catches plenty of fish.

Bait making is frustrating enough when starting to roll yer own without the hassle of your mix not binding or boiling up properly, having the mix turn to cack on you after spending money on eggs, rolling gear and flavours will probably outweigh the saving of concocting your own base mix.

Once you've mastered the basics of bait rolling you could then pursue sourcing ingredients for your own base mix and make a saving, however this would only be economically viable if you plan on knocking up a serious amount of bait...and anyone who's done a *****load of bait making will probably agree it does your head in unless you have a compressor gun, burco boiler and an industrial dough mixing machine!

Still it gives you a lot of satisfaction bagging fish on your own rolled carp sweets, until your ears start to hurt...from the mrs moaning about the smell of N Butyric and Squid from the kitchen.......hence the popularity of frozen baits nowadays.

buy a bag of Nutrabaits base mix and follow the intructions mate.... its a lot easier to start with and will give you a good feel for making your own. Nutrabaits website will give you any more help with the baitmaking process should you need it.

Then im sure you'll discover that its much better to buy it over the counter ready done. lol
