mixer's(tesco one's) for lakes and bread for the canals...can't seem to get canal carp going on the mixer's.

The fake mixer's are devastating!

Mixers all the way!!

Fake uns dont work from my experience and all I ever do is surface fish for carp whether it be winter or summer and I've blanked only once in the last 12 months!

Out of all the mixers Tesco's and Lateshops own are the best but I've found a few different brands that are far better (they resemble pukka baits floaters but are spicy chicken flavour - I'll let you find em)

I find bubble floats to be not so good, they drift too easy and fishing on a canal is difficult when casting into a 3ft wide swim between boats. ESP and Drennan controllers are the dogs doodars for overcoming this. I've even used floating putty if the fish are scared off by the controllers, this works but drifts easily.

Try modding your rubber bands or hairs to resemble the way the fake uns work by adding a small shot to the underside (opposite side of the hook) and you'll trick those wary fish.

I'll deffo be trying the old pond pellets after this post, never thought of it but I bet it works
