cheap boilie mixes

does anyone on here know of any good quality and simple to make boilie mixes as i`m trying to get into makin my own but can`t quite get my head around it.it needs to be cheap enough to make cos i`ve two teenagers who are carp mad as well as me

The best boilie mix is Richworth 50/50 for cheepness and easiest to roll.

The base is a white colour so you can add your own colours, flavours, sweetners, additives and even cork balls/ polly balls if you want to make your own pop ups.

I used this to start with and found it very easy to roll, you cant really fail to get the consistency right, well i didnt.

Now i dont find it hard to roll any base, not that i roll a lot anymore, its just when i used to i didnt find any hard, i found Richworth one of my faves for rolling. Used to love making Tut'es back in the day, so easy, and so effective!!

Most mainline mixes are £65 for 10kg plus a tenner for the aditive, so £78+ including eggs for 14kg rolled weight.

thats roughly £5.57 per kilo of boilies

If you can get hold of the ingredients try and make a base mix from scratch as you can make a good nutritional food bait for half the price you will pay for mainline, premier,nutrabaits etc.
The best mix i ever used was this
4.5 kilo white fishmeal (provimi 66 cheapest)
2.5 kilo Full Fat soya (get the full fat and not defatted..gives the bait more utilisable energy for the carp)
0.5 kilo Robin Red
1 Kilo Lactalbumin (milk protein)
1 kilo Rennet casein (milk protein)
0.5 kilo seaweed extract or kelp extract
It rolls well and will probably only set you back £40 tops
If you need to find a supplier then look at Quality Baits website or CC Moores. you should pick up the fishmeal at an animal feeds supplier for next to nothing...£1 per kilo ish
if you have trouble getting the lactalbumin then replace it with Calcium caseinate another milk protein.
So get rolling

when people refer to 50/50 is it semolina mixed with something else?and does anyone know of fishmeal suppliers in the manchester(wiganish)area?

mainline grange is good stuff and not to expensive. if your paying then i reckon your lads should make all the bait.

Ive been reading all of the above posts and i have never made my own boilies before but would like to give it a bash this year.

Can anyone give me any simple recipes or suggestions as to what to add to the base mix?

Any advice is appreciated as i know very little on the subject.

As ChrisKnapper has already mentioned, simlply get yourself a bag of Richworths 50/50 boilie mix, choose yourself a flavor, a colour if you wish and some sweetener! Start with a 4 egg mix. There's no point in going mad with essential oils/bulk food oils etc if your just beginning.

Then all you've got to do is follow the instructions on the bag. Mix it up into a firm (ish) paste, roll into balls, or shapes of your preference and boil for about 90 seconds. Hey presto, BOILIES!!

There's no right or wrongs with boilie making if you stick with the guidelines on flavour bottles etc with regards of how much to put in. Thats the beauty of it! If it does catch you a few fish only YOU know the recipe!

Give it a go, keep it simple and it'll all come together.
