Default Groundbait

Can you use a groundbait as a base mix to make your boilies?
I would assume you could and just add eggs and flavour?

Your thought's on this please!

Hi

No mate... you can obviousely add your chosen base mix to your groundbait mix.... but not the other way round.... as you have to boil your boilies after they have been rolled, they will just disintegrate in the same way that they would when you throw them in the lake....

Chris

Chris is right mate, the water would just dissolve the groudbait, best to just buy the base mix then add your flavourings

Ok here we go! Dont know what your chosen ground bait make up is but this should do it if you wish to produce a cheap and easy boilie mix to match.....firstly add 40% of your groundbait into a large container ie: 4 kg's to make up a 10kg mix. Add 3kg's fine ground semolina as a binder, 1 kg, rice flour, 1kg egg albumen as a hardener(skinner for your bait) and finally 1kg of salmon/anchovy meal......seriously? this should produce decent materials for a base mix as long as your groundbait aint quite shlt!!!
Best of luck Bill

Read somewhere recently of someone making boilies from groundbait and it had worked

Well i had some groundbait and decided to give it a go...........it did work!

Bit softer than ready mades but usable and i think if i used more eggs next time i might just have it about right

Tested the boilies in water, they are still whole and have broken down only a bit leaving the water coloured

I guess it all depends on what ingredients are in the groundbait – one mans groundbait is another mans basemix and all that. As long as the binding agent was included during mixing you could use quite a few base mix alternatives instead of traditional fishmeals, etc. But of course that does not mean that they’ll be any good in terms of attraction, etc.

Yes you can make boilies from groundbait.

But stop and ask why would you want too? Most groundbaits with any kind of bits in arent all that cheap so just buy some good quality base mix and go from there.

If i was going to make up a normal batch of boilies then i would use a base mix but i had some unused groundbait from a while ago and wondered if i could make boilies out of it and that's why i asked the original question.

Just fancied trying it out and doing something different with it basically
