Default Spod mix

Hi all,

Wanting to make up a spod mix,i know you can get most of the ingredients from pet shops but is there anything you can buy that has a mix of things and how do you go about preparing it?

Need to put out a fair bit to try to feed off the nuisance fish so as cheap as poss would also be an advantage

Cheers in advance

Go to a pigeon supplies shop/warehouse whatever and buy a big bag of red robin and if they sell hemp a bag of hemp take it come i half fill a bucket with red robin and then pour boiling water over it so it just covers the mix i soak it for 24 hrs then divide it up and blast it in a pressure cooker for about 10 -15 mins maybe a little longer once ive blasted all of the mix i put it in a bucket with a tight fitting lid then i do a pan full of hemp do this in a pan till the grains start to split once they are split i put them water and all in the bucket with the rest of the mix add a tin of corn and then take it with me the following morning you can do it in advance so it is really stinking but i prefer fresh stick a few chilies in when you are doing your hemp

What i call red robin is prob red band the old guy who 1st told me about the stuff always called it red robin maybe his own name for the stuff and i just carry on calling it that its just loads of goodies carp like oh yeah and pigeons apparently like it as well but unboiled

you can buy ready prepared particles from some online bait companies mate or just buy the dinamite jars most local tackle shops do them but it works out expensive and most guys will agree there's more satisfaction in doin your own especially when it works
if you do prepare your own another name is red band

Don't forget plenty of pellets, they are the basis for my spod mixes, with a bit of hemp and corn added

Default particles

if looking for a cheap particle mix then red band is one of the best. cover well with boiling water and leave for 24hrs in a air tight bucket. oat groats are another and perfect for mixing with hemp. Add carnation milk in liberal amounts to get a really good effect. there are also loads of additives that groats take on well (phosphorcolamine is probably the best this lovelly red liquid turns the mix pink!) Also try sqeeka mix a combo of larger pulses and beans which is another good one but not as well known. Alternitively try this cracking combo. hemp corn chopped tigers and mini maples. Add a number of fish way back using these. hope this helps.
