Hi

It depends how cheap you are talking about, as basically, when making bait, you pay for quality.

The best mix to start with, which i started with and found to be very easy to make and roll, would be either Richworth 50/50 mix or Nash 50/50.... id go for the Richworth if you can get your hands on it.

Use any flavorings from the Richworth range, make sure you buy the double strength stuff. Then you will need to buy you colourings and sweeteners.

At first it will seem a little expensive as you will then need to buy the boilie gun and the rolling table and the flavorings arnt cheap either.

Once you have got it all, all you will have to worry about it buying the boilie mix itself.

You will get loads more satisfaction out of catching a fish on bait you have gone to the trouble of making, than you would going to the shop and picking a bag out of the freezer or off the shelf.

Happy Rolling!

Chris

this sums it up really well for me you pay for quailty im not sayin a cheap mix wil not catch fish but if it is better quailty ingrediants it is alot better for the fish and when you are putting the bait in you know the fish are not going to come to any harm!

yep thats the one matey !!!

ive made my own baits for about 10 years now .ive progressed from a single roller ,solar gun and a pan to............

a airpowered gun ,compressor ,burco boiler ,and about a dozen rollers .i find it much more satisfiying than buying a bag of whatever from the freezer of your local shop.

i buy a basemix in bulk and add my own combination of additives ,your bait is unique and know on else has the same combination .also when buying base mixes in bulk you can afford to throw some in to get the fish on it !!

it can be hard graft making lots of bait up espically lots at a time but its much more rewarding

no probs matey

i found that the longer ive been making bait the easier and more predictable the results have become .i found its best to get the paste as stiff as you can putting as much dry powder into the eggs as possible .this then makes the rolling easier and its less likely to stick to the roller .

yep kevin smiths stuff is top quality matey !!!!!

dunno if you have seen the "clerks cartoon stuff" i have yet to see it myself ???

Default boilie recipes

As most have said it depends on if you require a fishmeal mix, birdfiood or carbohidrate mix. there are a whole host of cheap ingredients and additives to use that will produce good results.

U could do with giving them at least a minute boil to let them skin over.................then air dry them for at least 2 days to harden them off

part of my air drying procedure involves bagging the baits up and glugging them...............
I tie the bag and roll them around in it till they are all evenly coated then leave them till all the glug is sucked into them ................

once its all gone they get air dried again..........

the process is repeated several times to make extremely high leakage bait
