how tight are your sticks tied? i tend to not have mine tied up really tight as it causes a kind of explosion and throws the rig all over the place... (seriously it does) do you hook the stick on or pass the rig through it? as i pass my rig through the stick kinda creating an inline stick (if that makes sense)
if i was fishing close in then i would probably lose feed the groundbait 1st and lie the rig over it... (if the water is clear obviously this is a bit easier...) alternatively use a small pva bag rather than the mesh and do it that way see if that makes any difference cheers Chesh

I've tied them tight & as lose as I dare the same happens over again and I thread the stick on the hooklink, i've tried the branded stuff and cheap pva with the same results also its fishin the rig in close that brought it to my attention so I can only imagine the same at distance Cheers.

if fishing so close that you can actually see the rig i'me not sure there is any reason to use a stick over the hooklink, i only use sticks really to bury the hook as not to catch on anything on the cast so in the margins i just nik a tiny bag on, interesting what you found though worth a look

Me and a mate have experimented a lot with pva in a fishtank and you would be surprised at just what can happen when your sat thinking everything is ok at your rig end .
![]() I have seen the hook turned back on itself so its flipped onto the hooklink , the hooklink buckle up so its no longer lying flat , ive seen the pva dissolve and leave the knot masking the hook . Just give it a go one night when ur bored it will scare the life out of you so much that my mate only uses solid bags now as they tend to completley dissolve without moving the rig . i still use the mesh but i lick the ends and stick them or tie them with pva string this elliminates the knot problem . the problem is as it melts it contracts so pulls the hook with it so causing it to sit unnatrally . I'm not trying to scare you but just give it a go and let me know your findings . we aslo found that a certain type of mono we use lies flat when used at 10 inches but any more and it kinks up in the middle ,it is worth trying your rigs in a tank just to see how it lies . It can save all those hours behind motionless indicators. As for you using it in the margins i totally agree with whats been said and would loose feed and drop the rig over the top .
