Try your local tackle shop. Mine (Tackle locker in Chester) sells worms in all sorts of different quantities. I seem to recall seeing 5kg sacks for sale if you want to buy in proper bulk!

On a backroad between CRABMILL and Sandbach, "worms for fishing" are being sold at £10 per kilo.

Sorry it's not local to you.

On July 22'nd, you missed the WORLD WORM CHARMING CHAMPIONSHIP, and so did I, and I only live 1/2 a mile away.

Go down to your local allotments and see someone who has an allotment and ask em if its ok for you to dig a few worms from his compost heap if he smokes buy him a packet of cigs or a few cans of beer every now and then keeps em sweet . Simply be polite and assure him you will not leave a mess and in most cases there is no problems

stables are a good option. The muck pile will have thousands of worms in it if you have the stomach to collect them

Default Snitching for Worms

the best worms for big carp are probably big fat lob worms.

not used them for many years, but used them extensively for tench, bream, etc.

best way to get them is to pick them off the surface of bowling greens, golf greens, any well trimmed grass lawns, etc, at night, preferably a damp night.

this is a an art form, known as "snitching", and can take many attempts to perfect you technique.

head torch, trainers, and a very gentle footstep, stealth and cunning are all essential skills and equipment.

grab the worm, hold on till they relax, then gently withdraw them from the ground. i could get enough for 2-3 nights tenching in one night if the conditions were right, maybe 3/4 pints, but my mate was too clumsy and only got a quarter of my haul!

Ha ha I know the technique well! Arguably, there is more cunning and skill involved in gathering the worms than you will use catching fish with them!

Warm wet nights are perfect..... there are a few of them around at the moment if you time it right. It is staggering how many lobs you can harvest when conditions are good.

Mike.
