Default Plastic Fantastic

What are your thoughts on the Glow-in-the-dark artificial plastic baits, too `gimmicky' and unnatural?

I like using the fake corn and maggots etc but i don't see the point in using the glow in the dark products that have been released.

If carp can pick up dark boilies in the night then i don't see how using something that glows can increase catch rates.

Might bring an inquisitve bite from some fish. They dont have hands so can only test things with there mouths. I did dabble with it but thought a good food bait was a better option in the end. But i still cant use the plastic stuff without a real bit on the hair too.

You can never nock plastic baits untill youve tried them. I mean, the waters i fish, that glow in the dark stuff would just get hammerd by the ducks. But the original Enterprise yellow fake plastic corn is one of the most effective hookbaits that ive used yet!

Yes it is confidence mate, and i have a lot of it in that bait, truly devistating on some waters where others cant beg a bite on bait!

Ive had many fish on the artificial glow corn, best result was 17 fish in a night on 2 rods over particle.............. The 3rd rod was too on the bed of bait on maize...... it caught 1 fish! My largest capture on glow corn is 29lb 12oz............. i think it traps the inquisitive fish

I'v ad good results on the pellets, I used to keep them glugging in a pot,I'v ad a few carp on the corn and some ginormous bream. My lad got some glowing maggots in a lucky bag so I ad to resort to bribery to claim my prize, but I avn't tried em yet.The price tag of the torch and glow corn put me off trying them

Must admit, for a long time I always had to have a bit of ‘real’ with any fake bait, but now I use just artificial and my catch rates have gone up even more – have total confidence in them, particularly on Birch where we now use nothing else! All four rods on fake corn and not one real bait between us, yet we hold our own or do better than most other weeks on the water – it’s mad when you think about it.

As for the glowing stuff, not really tried that – but food for thought Phil – after a slow winter with no fish off the top pool, the first fish came out to a glowing piece of corn to Andy on the point in the middle of the night!

I'm not a fan of plastic baits. Can't get my head round how or why they work. However, i was once at a BCSG meeting where frank warwick put on a slide show. He talked about his trials with the glow in the dark stuff and said how he outfished others around him on a freezin cold winters night. The talk was so convincing i nearly bought some but i held myself back. I intend to try it this year or am i too late and the fish have alredy sussed it. This subject requires too much thinkin

Tried the glow in the dark stuff and didn't get a minutes piece all night. it seemed like every fish in the lake was attracted to it. Definately one to try again

Ive got my doubts about the glowing stuff but going by some of the comments so far it looks like i'll have 2 give em a go. After all i can't play them down as i haven't tried em yet.
