Vacu Seal

Does anyone use those vacuum sealed bags to keep their bait fresh for longer?

Would this be good for long sessions / trips abroad, or even for keeping freshly prepared bait available and removes the need for big freezer space?.

I've used my mums before for small amounts of hookbaits for long sessions, they kept well.I refroze some and it prevented freezer burn

there are better types than them that will suck out all the air and then seal the bag

I bought one of the commercial grade ones about ten years ago.....great for bait keeping. As the deteriation process requires air to take place it certatinly helps keep bait from rotting for quit a while, compared to just in a bag, also as Bet has mentioned it prevents freezer burn.
Another use I've found is for adding bait soaks......put the bait in the bag, add your soak and then seal. As the air is drawn out of the bag it is also drawn out of the bait and the soak gets drawn into it. Allows you to use less of the soak as it spreads out better.

thanks all, glad you have used these products. I can see some uses for them for cooked particles and freeze in their own juice rather than pouring it away, or even freeze the juice seperate for ground baits etc...

as mentioned b4 mate the juices get drawn back into your bait under vacuum
