Default whats the strangest thing you've caught with?

i was talking to one of my mates that fishes a cyndicate down south and we were talking bait... now every summer he gets the fruit pastels out
(yes, the sweets) and they never fail him.

because I'm a relative newcomer to carp fishing this could be old news and a trick that everyone's tried but i thought it was interesting that a carp would take a bait like that!

.... so what's the strangest thing you've caught a carp on?

When I was a kid at roman Lakes on the small back-canal on a hot day, I caught a perch with a crow . They were rising for maggots being flicked in, so I flicked a greenie in and a perch came and swallowed it.

Not a carp, but a true story!

I've not tried any out of the ordinary baits as of yet but I've read somewhere that a 40lb'er was once caught off the top on a cig butt

The strangest thing ive caught a carp on is hi-vis pop ups.
Lets face it, they are pretty strange, a super bright bait popped up 2inches above the lake bed.

Once, when gutting a trout cought from my local trout river, my dad and I found a fruit pastille and a a big peice of yogurt pot

My best carp capture is a 6Ib common. I was playing a lively smal carp on my waggler rod, so lifted my margin leger rod out of the water to get it out of the way. Mty bait fell off during the process, leaving my bare hook dangling 6 inches in the lake. Took me a while to work out why the reel on my rod was backwinding like fury when I was unhooking the first fish.........

Mike.

Even if the ciggy came off the hook/ hair I doubt a carp would swallow it anyway

Fair enough but i personally dont think it would do the carp any harm.
Some people might think different though.
