My mate has been doing the same thing for a few years now keeps it well quiet and does very well off it as well on some v hard waters!

I think the idea was to use the sand as a visual attractor and add the additives as a smell/sense attractor rather than use it for the carp to eat and get a nutritional benifit from it.............

noooo way would also make a good sand spot if you kept on pvaing sand to one spot
