Default How to attach PVA string

Hi peeps,

Whats the best way to attach boilies to PVA string. I was thinking of using a normal baiting needle and feeding it through. Any suggestions?

You can get longer baiting needles to attached 5-6 at a time pal

Get a piece of string and drag it through the boilies in the middle (so the string goes through the boilie twice).

the easiest way to do it mate is with a stringer needle or a needle with a
gate on the end as opposed to a point (lip close baiting needle)
just thread on your required amount of boilies onto the needle then fold your pva string in half, then hook the lip of the needle onto the string close the gate and thread them on mate thats the way i do it

make sure you leave a small gap between the boilies else you will be left with a long line of boilees stuck together, you prob already knew that

narrow funnel web is the easiest way you can set your boilies out in a line and tie it of tightly then just hook your rig on to the top but not in the knot, then when it melts the funnel web explodes and scatters the boilies around your hookbait as opposed to a big line of baits(looks bit less spooky if you get what i mean perfect for waters where stringers are overused)

I think it would be hard to find a water in these PVA bag obsessed days where stringers are over used fella...

As a little bit of food for thought, try a stringer with just 1 or 2 baits,or indeed 20+ baits on it,given that most stringer needles are of a fixed length you'll find most people who do use them tend to affix 5 to 6 baits on their stringer as this is the normal amount a needle will accomodate and therefore be the 'norm'...providing you travel on the train of thought that fish can count to 6 that is....

Not such a bad thing! I remember Mr. Paisley doing an article about a method where by you tie your stringers as tight as possible with say 4-5 baits of around 12mm, you attach these as normal at varying lengths from the bottom of the hook, then you match the presentation on your hair, ie, you have 4-5 on your hair that look the same as your PVA offerings.

i appriciate that & could deffo work, could give a few different presentations that would all work myself but the lad sounds like he has never used pva before & being in the beginners section thought we might start there...

This whole idea of PVA bags 'exploding' and 'firing' baits around as it melts does make me chuckle. Has anybody ever whitnessed this phenomena happening or is it, as I suspect, a myth? If it is true, the carp must feel like they are in a game of paintball down there!

Next time I go out I'm going to tie the tightest bag I can and drop it in the margins to see what happens. I'll be putting some safety goggles on just in case I'm wrong mind.

Mike.

Very true fella best way is 3 baits in funnel web, off set the middle bait to one side tie the bag nice and tight then push the middle bait back in line to make the bag tighter then all thats needed is to place the tail end bait on your hair as your hookbait and hook the bag under the hair, doing this your hookbait stays put and the 2 free baits are fired 2-3" apart, very good method for spooky lady's (the big old girls).

also make sure you dont use bait floss instead , i did it by mistake once and didnt find out until i reeled in in the morning only to find my hookbait along with 5 others still perfectly attached ! i now use coloured bait floss so i dont get confused !
