Hi guys... don't rip me too much but what is a shock leader... what is it used for and how do you use it...

its attatched to you rods and alrams mate ... that way when you get a run ,....... your not shocked by it

a shockleader is to take the shock out of the casting so tht you dont crack off on a cast i fink anyway

yea its an old site i used to visit muka,,, i jsut knew there was a bit about shockys on there . iam not sure you will be needin one just yet tho mate ..... not unless were gona tackle colemere lol lol

shockleader mainly yea mate... but you also have snag leaders aswell ... EG for ya

if i was to try and cast my 15lb line to the moon lol chances are i may crack off , losing the rig and leavin it live in the water for Mr Carp to pick up ...
but if it didnt crack off the distance achived would be less than :

say

usin a shockleader and 10lb line ......... the first rod length or so of line to my rig would be a shocky and then the 10lb would follow ..... this will achive greater distance as the 10lb line will give less resitance wen casting .... The shockleader will be made out of a stronger material .... braid or proper leader material .... this section will take all the force of your cast and not break ......where as if you used 10lb line all the way threw theres a high chance you will be losing that rig lol

Ahh its all coming together now,.... cheers mate.... now my leadcore leaders are for making sure it sits on the bottom and also so the weight can come off if it gets snagged is that right?

First part right mate, but the lead will only come off it you tie the rig in the correct way

It will all come togther mate then you will be looking back and wondering what you where worried about.

I only ever use Leadcore TBH and have a good 3-4ft of it on my rigs, i use
15lb Line but as said if you want to achive distances then this s when shockleaders come into play.
