Be quiet, don't hammer tent pegs in any near me, standing on the edge of my swim when I'm fishing 1 rod length out and shouting I can see your bait, is not a good idea, don't cast into some one elses swim, ask politely where someone is fishing before casting out, just a few for openers.

If you get on a lake it's common curtosey to ask the gut in the next swim where his rods are, if you cast out and go through there lines thats what really p***es me off.
When you do approach them keep as quite as possible and keep down i hate it like said when your a rod length out and have got them feeding for someone to come and wreck everything. But like you said go to a busy day ticket water watch what they are all doing and DON'T DO ANY OFF IT YOURSELF

Turn alarms off when setting your swinger/hanger etc. There's nothing more annoying than someone messing about with their alarms and making them beep all the time. Also don't have your alarms too loud so that lads 500yds away can hear them to. Basically anything that creates unnecessary noise gets peoples backs up really. Oh yea, ditch any sort of mallet as well, the sound of someone trying to forge a horse shoe over an anvil ain't a good way to gain friends on the bank either...
As you say matey, common sense really

Turn up and immediately spod out 5 kilos of spod mix into the next guys swim to scare them into yours.
Then pick a swim and erect your bivvy, make sure all your pegs are safely secured, it's best to use a mallet for this. Carp fishing can be quite boring at times if you aren't catching, so make sure you take a good quality transistor radio, make sure it's fairly loud in case you're a few swims down the bank asking the guy fishing the margins how's he's doing. Always use a baitboat when you are fishing over other anglers lines. A bright lantern perched on the edge of the bank is essential if you are night fishing. Don't forget a crate of Stella and that radio to liven the evening up for everyone on the bank. If you're taking self portraits, make sure you rush it thoroughly, and make sure you are fully stood up when holding the fish. Make sure your alarms are on full volume, and make sure when you are setting your rods after a cast that you wind in while your alarms are on, that way you know your alarms are working. It's best to use a really light bobbin on windy days, especially at night, and again make sure your alarms sensitivity is set to maximum and volume is on full. It's better to make several casts every 10 or 15 minutes, and always use a 4oz bomb when you're doing so. If you do catch, and no matter what size the fish is, it's best to let everyone on the lake know about it. Remember, you always know better than the guy in the next swim, and don't be afraid to tell him that. Don't worry about taking your litter home, that's what bailiffs are there for. Follow these rules and you will be fine. Or do the exact opposite and avoid being beaten up and thrown in the lake.
