I had the same problems with my own tied rigs - had no confidence in them when I started to lose fish earlier this year. Went back to using (dare I say it) Nash ready tied rigs to increase my catch rate as I KNEW they worked.
I ponced some Kryston Snake Bite off a mate and tied a couple of rigs up - nowt special, just stripped back a few inches, knotless knot with a hair about an inch long, on a Fox B2 size 8 and hey presto - started catching on these.
Confidence back in a flash

Keep it simple, and as has already been said - if it looks wrong - IT IS.
