Well first of all cogratulations on joining the ranks of us carp anglers

Personally i use pva bags when i'm using pellets/boilies, and pva string for boilies, if the water you are fishing has a stack of bream in i would not bother with pellets or else you will get bombed out with them (usually).

The end tackle bit, its up to you but just make sure its a safe rig where the lead can slip off if you do get snapped, forgive me for saying this and no disrespect to you, but with you being a beginner have you been shown safety clips etc... ?

Finally just use a standard hair rig start tying some at home get used to it knotless knots etc then progress onto other stuff.

But at the end of the day matey its up to you hope this helps

Daz.

Heres my top ten tips matey

1 Try to locate some fish before deciding which swim to fish .
2 Use small amounts of bait to increase the chances of a pick up.
3 Dont get bogged down with technicalities, at this time of year any bait and both solid and mesh bags will catch fish!
4 Aim to catch 1 fish at a time!
5 Dont forget to observe nearby features pads/trees for fish activity. Try applying a little bait where you can watch it!
6 If fish show elsewhere on the lake dont be afraid to move (just do it quietly to avoid disturbing fish and anglers)
7 If you are fishing close in try slack lining
8 Remember to set and test your drag before casting.
9 Ensure rods are secure in the rests. You dont want a rod flying off when you do get your take
10 Enjoy yourself

I would give the baillif a ring mate with regards to bait. in general they are quite forthcomimng with usefull information. I would keep everything nice and simple with regards to rigs, as thedoctor46 said, make sure its safe. i would have a look at some of the korda stuff mate, i used it when i started carping about 12 months ago and used it untill i felt confident in tying everything myself. Also i would have a look at some of the pretied hooklinks as i have a couple in my tacklebox for those days where i can't be a***d to tie one for my self! i like the fox ones, they are pretty sound and have quite a good range out. Hope that helps

Good advice Phil.

The worst thing you can do is pile bait in somewhere you've not fished before. Once that baits in, you cant take it out, but you can always add to a swim if need be.

Many thanks fellas will give you an update on tuesday night and any pics if possible (or maybe not) Also I've just got 2 of the new fox stratos 10000 reels and was thinking of going with the Fox soft steel line 12lb what u guys think.

I had a quick look round the water after I posted my question an its got a good stock of bream and tench and chub so I think I will give the pellets a miss, what u guys think of the stick with the dynamite bait and korda funnel web u guys think this will attract the nusence fish aswell.

I was thinking about the tigga link and black stealth as a hook link and a korda hook.

Again thanks guys.

Daiwa sensorall the way !

Check your hook is still as sharp as those in the packet after every fish....if its not, change it for a sharp 1. Usually thinking " that will do" , wont !!

Yes good luck with your session some real good advice has been offered there. 99% is finding the fish you wont catch em if they are at the other end of the lake take your time to try and locate the fish before you make your mind up where to fish and as all the others have said keep things simple bearing in mind it's your end tacke that the fish see's or hopefully doesn't see the Korda underwater DVD's are real eye openers for this. Finding the fish accurate baiting and casting then at the end of the session try and think what worked what didn't work what could I have done to make it better even a skimmer bream hooked in the bottom lip tells you that your rigs are working and it's something to take away thats positive.
