Default Lead core?

Hi

next stupid question.............

since I was last fishing, some years ago it seems lead core has been introduced! Now I understand the principle but if you tighten down to your leads is there any point in lead core?

regards john

if you tighten down to your leads at some sort of range you'll be suprised but there still is enough slack to keep the leadcore pinned to the bottom. close in stuff is normally done with slack line so that'll keep it all down and sweet. leadcore is a superb part of the carpers inventory but must be used correctly. fishing with a poorly tied rig can leave the fish with a death trap.

Hi

would I be right in thinking the you would never clip up with lead core?

You would only "feel for the leads" at distance to have the rest pinned?

eh? havent a clue what your on about there matey... when you say clip up are you meaning on the cast?

your last sentence makes no sense whatsoever im sorry

feel for the leads on the cast i.e. feel for the DONK?

i ditched leadcore a few years ago after a fish i had went absolutely mental when trying to get it in, jumping, rolling over the line etc... and caused a bit of damage (cleaned up and kliniked)

There is more than enough tubing on the market now to choose from that does an equally good if not better job than leadcore.
By that fact leadcore is now redundant.

Correct mate, I've been trying some of Nashy's Tungsten tubing recently, sinks like a brick, well impressed with it

Hi

"clip up" is what we use to do with bolt rigs the older way was using a matchstick and elastic bands

"feel for the lead" was how hard you pulled the monkeys down till the line was straight.

stay away from leadcore mate unless there are no snags where your fishing even with correctly tied rigs it is dangerous stuff regardless of the competance of the angler

ok

could not see the benifits unless you had " fairly " slack lines anyway.

Hi

just watched Korda 5 underwater footage.

I think it more a less says what I was thinking, especially at shorter ranges, you need slack lines.

in the dvd, he even says the wieght of the bobin was enough to lift the lead core off the bottom

john

I have one idea to try but needs a little more thought.

or alarms or rod rests... Caught quite a few fish from just watching the line and rod at short range using leadcore, nice slack line and light lead(1.5oz)when it goes be on the rod or its going in (I dont use the baitrunner when near the snags)
