Default braided line/shock leader

When using a spod is it o.k. to use a braided line and do you still need to use a shock leader.

i use a 30lb whiplash main line straight through casting up to 100 yards with the korda skyliner spod with a heavy spod mix any further i would use a shocky like the korda armakord at 50lb,but most of the time any 30lb braid is good for spoding

best using a shock leader fella 30lb braid may brake at said rating on a straight pull but can break at nearly half the rating with the instant shock being applied to it.tie a length of braid to 2 bank sticks and pull steadily will take plenty of effort to snap it,do it again but this time pull them apart fast and they should snap easily as the braid has no stretch.always safer to use a leader plus cheaper as well as you will lose less spods

30lb power pro has never failed me yet, even with the big old gardner pocket rockets and korda skyliners etc...

quick tip though... ALWAYS use a finger guard or an old golf glove

i've tried both, but can cast a 8oz spod miles futher with a nylon leader than a braided leader, and as for mainline its not so good on the fishes mouth in my opinion............but not everyone will agree

can compress a spod rod more with a nylon leader, therefor a greater distance is achieved
