hi ya
Bet whot size is your tank , if its a good size and you want a real pet, then
look no further than a oscar, there must be alot on web about them as thay are populer large chiclids , these fish grow quite big but know whot is going on outside the tank and almost talk to you , watching your every move, and you can almost hand feed them, you could keep one oscar , a sailfin pleck, and four silver dollers in a 4foot x 18 inch tank , if it is larger then i whould add 2 hoplo cats, or a couple of humbug catfish, and 2 more
silver dollers, some people keep tinfoil barbs with there oscars, but i do not like to see this because i like to make my set ups like the real biotopes as posserble, that means keeping fish from the same country aswell and not mixing them, i find they live alot better along side one an other , do not keep
real plants in this setup as thay will not last long, as the silver dollers will eat them, you do not need to be to fusy about your tank lay out ether, a good pice of bogwood ,a nice tank backdrop, and a heater gard is realy all you need, you can of course put some plastic plants in ,that your oscar will delight in rearranging for you to his likeing, as soon as you have placed them
where you think thay look best

critch
jewel tanks are nice ,
just remember you can never have to mutch filtration, and i would always go for the biggest tank you can fit in , I have found that the greater the volume of water the less problems you seem to have , and do not be tempted to over stock your tank at any cost, this and over feeding is two of the main problems, when starting of a new tank, take your time and do not rush ,and its a great little intrest,
