shockleader mainly yea mate... but you also have snag leaders aswell ... EG for ya

but if it didnt crack off the distance achived would be less than :

say

usin a shockleader and 10lb line ......... the first rod length or so of line to my rig would be a shocky and then the 10lb would follow ..... this will achive greater distance as the 10lb line will give less resitance wen casting .... The shockleader will be made out of a stronger material .... braid or proper leader material .... this section will take all the force of your cast and not break ......where as if you used 10lb line all the way threw theres a high chance you will be losing that rig lol
