Never thought I would write these words.
It is good advice, but Julian Cundiff used it so often that it ended more over used and worn out than one of his girlfriends.
If it aint bust don't fix it!
Another one of my own is:
To keep warm in your sleeping bag in winter take off your warm outer clothing. Bit of a strange one this and results are variable from bag to bag. If you get into your bag wearing thick coats thermal suits etc often the bag loses much of its thermal qualities. This is because you lose the air gap that is intended to warm up from your body heat. I sleep in jeans and T-shirt even in the coldest weather and I am always nice and toasty. It is a bit of a leap of faith because initially it does feel colder but once the bag warms up you actually end up warmer.
That is until you need a pee or get a run.
I remember once sitting on my bed chair, adrenalin pumping daft grin on my face, after catching a fish on a very frosty night. Upon crossing my legs I caught sight of a very strange silhouette that looked nothing like what my foot should look like. Padding around in my socks while playing, landing, weighing the fish, etc my feet were naturally very cold, but I was gob smacked to find a load of leaves literally frozen to my socks.
