I'm sure everyone has loads of little hints and tips that they could pass on about fishing. Any 'hints and tips' thread about watercraft, rigs, tackle, bait etc. could be endless.
So, I thought it might be fun to have a hints and tips thread for all that slightly quirky advice that you might not otherwise pass on.
The rules are simple - anything you might expect to read in a book or magazine is not allowed. The more leftfield the better, but all tips must be somehow related to fishing!

I'll start off:
If you end up with dirty and smelly hands after a day's fishing (or any other activity that makes your hands smell
) give your hands a good wash with shaving gel. One wash = smell gone. It's brilliant stuff!
If you ever manage to fall into a dirty lake, or eat your butties with dirty hands drink a can of coke (full fat coca-cola - no own brand or diet stuff). Coke is as close to domestos as you can get and will kill the vast majority of any germs you swallow.
