Please dont reply to this thread unless it is to add a day ticket venue

it makes the thread cluttered and it loses some of its usefulness

Two lakes one carp one course the carp lake is the furthest or the two and you can drive to most pegs, it’s a small lake of around 1 acre in size with a small island and 5 pegs big enough for a 2 man bivvy in each, the island regular produces some good catches. Pegs 1 and 2 is a double peg Cast to the left of no 1 to the reeds and don’t be afraid of trying different baits, boilies don’t seem to be a no 1 bait at the moment luncheon meat is producing as well as maize stacks on the hair so try some thing different and you should be into a carp. Due to the size of the lake its good for stalking and if you are feeling stealthy have a climb to the back of the island and have a go at stalking a carp out try worms. Over all it’s a good lake set out nicely with the peace and quiet that you would expect from a carp fishery.

Dixon Green – Farnworth, Bolton Manchester
Directions – Top of St Germain Street are steeps go up and you are on the lake
Contact – Farnworth Angling Club – day tickets on bank
No Night fishing
Class – Easy
Stock - carp to over 20lb
Rods – 2 rod rule
Prices – £2 per day
This lake is often overlooked due to its location, it’s not in the nicest areas to say he least in fact it’s in the middle of a council estate but its not really known for a lot of trouble, the lake is around a acre and a half approximately and contains some real nice carp many of these are taken on boilies even though they are banned on the lake all the local carpers use them. Carp are often caught from under your feet cast tight to the reeds and when you first walk on the lake the corner to the right has a pole sticking up that regularly produces carp, following the wind on this lake also seems to work well and I have known some anglers to catch well after pre baiting.

Sale Water Park – Sale Manchester
Directions – Just of M60
Contact –
Night fishing
Class – Moderate too hard
Stock – 30 + big cats
Rods – 3 rods
Prices – around £15 per night and £50 per year
This is a large boating lake with a good stock of carp and some big cats, the carp go to 30 + and the cats I am not sure of the sizes, this is a good size lake with a large stock of carp, location is vital on this lake and if you know or you can locate the carp you should not have a problem, because of the lakes size bait boats come in handy and with a marker you should find it easy to find some underwater features weed beds gravel ect, Boilies are the most used bait for the carp and big halibuts for those cats, overall a good water not so easy at times but the rewards are there if you are prepared to make the effort.

White heads – Radcliffe Bury
Directions hard to find
Contact –
Night fishing allowed
Class – moderate
Stock - carp over 20lb
Rods – 3
Prices – about £10 a night
This is a nice lake set a short walk from the car park it’s a long shaped lake in total around 1 ½ acres of water but its long so looks bigger, a small island towards the bottom end, a lot of anglers cast over to the far bank and then place the bait out in the margins on the far bank and throw some bait over the area this works well try sliding back leads down the line from the far bank and the put the rig in and when you get back to your rods pin it down there as well this has worked well with anglers in the past. The fish in this lake are nice old fish so most are of a good quality so it’s defiantly worth a look.

Pennington Flash – Leigh
Directions opposite Leigh fire station

Class – Hard

?
This is a lovely water in parts if you put a lot of effort in the results are there but the work has to be put in to get the results the lake is 70 hecares in size set in a 200 hectare country park if you are temped to give it ago you will more than likely to be on your own as there are not many that fish the place, have a walk round several times before you even think about wetting a line and try to locate the fish as this is crucial on a water of this size.

Wyre side – Garstang
Directions – Can’t remember
Contact –
Night fishing allowed
Class – easy
Stock – carp 20 +
Rods – 3 rods
Prices – approximately £25 per night
Size couple of acres strange shape, I am not keen on this water as I had a go once and it’s always very busy and there is not enough casting space, the venue is nice but to over crowded for me. No doubt some good fish and heavily stocked if you are having a go at it use shell fish b5 boilies as I hear on the grapevine the owners feed the fish up on these.

Homefarm – Alsager
Directions to be confirmed
Contact -
Class – easy / runs water
Night fishing allowed
Class Easy
Stock couple at 20 +
Rods 3
Prices - approx £25 per 24 hours £15 pr day
Size few acres in size good stock of fish, yet again another water with little casting space but lots of features pads reeds island ect. This is a nice water looks like a garden pond on steroids, its good but a little small ideal for a quick night and a couple of fish not the type of water you would concentrate on but ideal for a few fish. Boilies and Halibuts seem to work well and pva bags are all you need leave the marker and spod at home. Cats to 31lb

Clifton Marina / Manchester Park lake
Directions - clifton Manchester

Class - moderate
Night fishing allowed
Rods - 2
Clifton Marina / Manchester park lake is one of the few or only day ticket waters in the northwest that you have the chance of catching a 40+lb fish, a cracking place with some real beuts to catch its not a easy water by a long way but like any the rewards are there if the effort is put in. Clifton is the home of the northwests Mr Angry at 40+ and several 30 + carp inclusing wallnut now around 37lb, peter perfect now around 35+lb alot of big fish to go at.
