Apologies for getting back on-topic, but I used to find using a small net and cornering the beastie in the corner of the bowl to be the best method. I found that just between the plastic weeds and the castle sculpture to be the ideal capturing spot. Once done, I'd pop the little fella into a bowl full of tap water and get busy cleaning the tank out.
