The liquid ingredients appart from the Black pepper oil are not easy to overdose. The ratio's between the liquids and the basemix are not exact. I just add the basemix to the lquids until the right consistency is achieved.
The bp oil in the finished mix is not at all overpowering to my senses. I've tried to steer away from semo and soya, not because they make a bad bait just to be a little different because most baits contain them. But the 'taste' of the bait is more powerful than your normal comercial basemix but as I like to do two or three night sessions and am not a frequent caster I don't think thats a problem.
The seaweed and the marine amino do make for a salty tasting bait but again I don't think thats detrimental to the bait. I'm quite happy to omit or reduce the mollases but I include it not just for the sweetness i believe it adds to the attractiveness of the bait. I don't mind catching the other species, it's a low stock lake (2 fish/acre) and I like a bit of activity over the baits.
Carp love Robin Red but I may get away with halving the inclusion rate without diluting to much it's affect what do you think?
Thanks for the response. on some forums I would get responses from people giving advice without having had experience in formulating baits or being experienced carp anglers, which makes you reluctant to take the comments seriously without knowing the posters. I know thats not the case with you guys cheers.
