Had my first barbel from Elston Lane about 30 yrs ago believe it or not, was about 2lb and got in the local paper at the time as they were only just getting established in the Ribble then
Used to get quite a few on the stick float around 5lb-ish from the same stretch when I last fished it regularly, that was only about 20 yrs ago
