Week 4 Catch results for Le Moulin du Mee.
Week 4 ended with a lovely warm sunny day which saw plenty of suntans developing but very few carp as they prepared to spawn. This morning the lads reported plenty of activity in the shallows overnight so I think that the dip in catches is due to the commencement of the spawning ritual.
Totals for the week were a record and amounted to 156 carp with……
4 carp between 35 and 40lb, 12 carp between 30 and 35lb, 32 between 25 and 30lb, 46 between 20 and 25lb’s and the remainder being grown on doubles. All the lads broke their pb’s and in several cases several times during the week. 10 of the 30+ carp were commons with the larger mirrors not showing up as expected. It would appear that some of the commons had already spawned which may account for the high amount caught during the period. I think that the difficult weather conditions we have experienced so far this season has been a factor in the way catches have see sawed with some days being extremely hectic and others very quiet. This period of settled warm weather should see the main body of carp complete spawning and getting on the feed quite quickly.
Certainly our start to the season has been superb considering the appalling weather conditions we have seen. The constant changes in temperature has meant the carp have never really settled into any regular feeding patterns and with this consideration I think the anglers have all done extremely well. I really believe this is going to be a very exciting season.
