Quiet Week for Chilly Pendle

Mar 06,2007 by Lin Davies

Hello everyone, Top of the morning to you all. Here is the fishing report for last week.

Main Lake (pleasure)
Its been a quiet week as most of our pleasure anglers are now fishing the Doughnut Lake. The few anglers that did fish the main lake said they caught bream and roach with bags of 15lb plus.

Main Lake (carp)
A very quiet week carp wise, due to the weather conditions we think. Only three small carp were reported but they were only tiddlers from about 5-10lbs in weight.

Doughnut Lake (pleasure)
A great weeks fishing reported on this lake with bags of 30lb plus recorded. Pete Wood caught a great bag of fish using maggot and caster and Barry Robinson also had a great days fishing using the same bait. Skimmers, roach, tench and some nice carp have been reported.

Fly Lake
Fishing has been a little harder but anglers using buzzers, black midge and black nymph seem to have done well. The averages are as follows:

Monday 1.6
Tuesday 2.0
Wednesday no anglers
Thursday 3.0
Friday 5.4
Saturday 9.4
Sunday 3.3

On Saturday Gerry Hogg caught 43 fish.

On the 5th March we held the Trout Masters fish off. Eight anglers turned up for the competition and the results were as follows:

Fred Bainbridge 17 fish
Alan Harrison 8 fish
Steven Llewellyn 7 fish
Adam Clarkson 6 fish
Clark Coleman 6 fish
Stuart Whittaker 5 fish
Nathan Sledden 1 fish
Raymond Gregson 1 fish

All competitors said they enjoyed the session. Fred Bainbridge actually fishes for England and will go forward to represent Pendle View Fisheries in the grand final.

GENERAL NEWS
We are delighted to tell you that we have appointed Lisa our General Manager. Lisa was one of our fisheries superintendents. As you know Philip and I are not at site all of the time. Lisa is now responsible for the general running of the site on a day to day basis. Ryan our other fisheries superintendent has also been appointed Trainee Fisheries Manager. We have enrolled Ryan on the Fisheries Management Course. It takes five years to complete the course and when Ryan has become qualified we hope to appoint him Fisheries Manager.

We have some contractors in for the next few days to clear all the reeds around site. This will make fishing much better. The main lake and the fly lake will be affected. We will obviously keep disruption down to a minimum.

Well folks thats all for now. Good fishing.
best wishes
