Top Pool reward for Mal

Oct 23,2006 by Phil Wain

Mal Kell finally put his first fish onto terra firma on the Top Pool recently, just in time to celebrate his birthday! Mal took a stunning stocky of 13lb 5oz followed by the infamous Red October at 20lb 3oz. Both fish came from one of the weedier swims on the lake, falling to the same rod under cover of darkness only three hours apart.

As his angling partner I for one am overjoyed to see his hard work come to fruition. Mal has worked hard and put up with a lot of blanking on the venue while others where catching, and his catch is fully deserved !

We did the right thing and cracked open a bottle of bubbly to celebrate the occasion! He was so expectant of more fish the following night that he sat up waiting, but unfortunately it was back to bus business as usual!
