Pendle View fishery report for week ending 7th May 2006

May 11,2006 by Lin Davies

Hello everyone - hope you are all well. Here is the fishing report for last week.

Main Lake (Carp)
Well two anglers have had a fantastic run at the end of this week.  One angler called Dave Rothwell had a 48 hr session in the shallows and caught 11 carp.  Dave fished off peg 48 and used pop up corn and worm.  Dave caught the following carp.  12lb common, 18lb 3oz common, 15lb ghostie, 17lb 7oz common, 15lb grass, 10lb mirror, 6lb mirror, 14lb 20z mirror, 8lb 3oz ghostie, 10lb 2oz mirror, and a 12lb 6oz common.  Dave has only started carp fishing for a month or so and was delighted with his session.   The other lucky carp angler was Brett Wilde.  Brett has fished our waters many times and has always done well.  Brett did a 48 hr session off the dam wall using strawberry pop ups and caught 13 carp.  Brett caught the following carp.  18lb mirror,  two 16lb grass carp, 10lb mirror, 10lb 6 oz mirror, 17lb mirror, 14lb 3oz mirror, 12lb 10z common, 16lb grass, 14lb common, 14lb 8oz common, 12lb 7oz common and 6lb mirror.  There were several other carp caught by other anglers this week but weights were only in the teens.

Main Lake (Pleasure)
Some really good catches this week.  Mark Taylor of Blackburn fished early in the week and had a 100lb bag.  Mark fished from peg 55 using feeder and worm and maggot as his bait.  His bag was mostly made up of bream.  Mark noted that he had some lovely bream that day.  Barry from Nelson also had a great day on Tuesday when he had a nice 45lb bag of fish from peg 26.  Barry was using feeder and had pellet and caster as his bait.  Roach, Bream and Perch have shown really well this week.  Other bags worthy of note were as follows:  50lb bag from Phil Curran using feeder as and worm and corn as his bait.  Martin and Neil from Bury both had a 50lb bag of bream and roach on Monday.  We certainly had some good weights this week ranging from 20lb bags to 100lb.

Match and Pleasure Lake
We have had quite a few anglers come to fish the match lake this week and again there have been some really good results.  Pegs 107 and 108 did well this week when Chas Jones and Larry Wilson fished it in the middle of the week.  Chas said he caught some lovely carp and tench and Larry said his bag was mostly made up of some lovely carp. Both lads were on feeder.  Quite a few of you have asked me to let you know what matches have been booked this year so that you know when the lake is free for pleasure fishing.  Here is the latest status for matches for 2006.  14th May, 28th May, 4th June, 11th June, 18th June, 25th June, 16th July, 13th August, 19th August, 26th August, 10th September, 17th September, 25th September, and 1st October.

Fly Lake
Some good catches this week.  The following flys certainly have done well - black and olive buzzers, cats whisker, and bloodworm.  Here are the averages for the week.

Monday 3.2
Tuesday 4.3
Wednesday 4.2
Thursday 3.3.
Friday 3.5
Saturday 3.3
Sunday 3.0

GENERAL NEWS

We are getting quite a few requests from people who would like to come coarse fishing after work (5pm till 9.00pm) during the summer months.  For those that wish to do this we are delighted to say that on these occassions we will offer you a ticket at our concessionary rate. What a nice way to chill out after a hard day at work.

We had Jan Porter come to see us on Friday.  We felt really proud showing Jan around Pendle View. I have to say he is a really nice bloke and very down to earth.   Lots of our customers recognised Jan and a few of our customers said  "Hiya Jan  I was watching you on tele last night".   Jan told me that he used to be know as a keen match fisherman and that everyone was quite suprised when he switched to carp fishing.  It was great to meet with Jan as he and have both worked in the world of marketing.  We had a great chat about our various backgrounds and we talked about our individual hopes and dreams for the world of fishing.  I have attached a photie of Jan during his visit on Friday.

I am delighted to let you know that Pendle View is now part of the the £10k tags competition which is taking place in over 200 fisheries.  You may recall that I sent you an email earlier in the week giving you some details about the competition.   Sorry for the odd spelling mistake I made within the document I sent out to you  but I have been working from 6am in the morning till about 11.30pm each evening for about five weeks now.  The competition is really exciting and there are some fantastic prizes to be won.

I feel that we now have a competition in place for all our customers.  Our fly anglers have the opportunity of going forward with Trout Masters, our pleasure anglers have the 10K tag competition, and our carp anglers have the Pendle View carp competiton.  If you would like any more details about the competitions in place please contact me direct or ask any of my staff at Pendle View.

Lastly you know how importantly we take customer care at Pendle View.  In line with this aim all of our staff are currently studying for their National Vocational Qualification in Customer Care.

Most of the main jobs are now completed on site and we shall resume with more projects towards the autumn time.  There will be of course grass cutting and general maintenance duties but these will be undertaken in a way to minimise disruption.

There is also some painting work going on, but again this will be done on the quieter days.

Over the next few weeks we will be introducing chip and pin and this will mean that you will be able to purchase things by using your card.  A lot of our customers have asked if we could introduce this system as they do not like carrying large amounts of money about with them.  Lastly we are introducing Electronic Point of Sale (Epos) in the next week or so.  You may recall that Philip and I used to own an epos company prior to owning the fisheries.  We think it will make life much easier when ordering goods and this will mean that we will hopefully not run out of things for you, our customer.

Well folks thats all for now.  Hope you have a good week and look forward to seeing you on our banks.

best wishes

Lin at Pendle View
