Pendle View Fishing Report for Weekending 30th July 2006

Aug 01,2006 by Lin Davies

Hello everyone,  As I am typing this the rain has started to cool things down.  What a lovely spell of weather we have enjoyed.  Here is the fishing report for last week.

Main Lake (Carp): Fishing was hard last week owing to the very hot weather conditions.  We could all see the carp basking on the top in the sunshine but carpers found it difficult to land a fish.  Having said that some anglers did quite well and the picture I have sent you is from Matt Cudworth who landed two carp - both of which top his personal best.  Well done Matt, you sure look pleased with yourself.  The first was a 26lb 14oz common and the second was a 27lb 14oz common.  Matt fished peg 48/49 with his mate and used mainline NRG boilies.   Other carp caught last week were as follows:   2lb mirror, 16lb common, 9lb common, 9lb grass carp, 17lb mirror, 18lb 2oz common 13lb mirror, 11lb common, 18lb common, 15lb common, 10lb 8oz common, and 16lb 8oz common.

Main Lake (Pleasure): The hot weather conditions have made fishing quite hard.  The dam wall, which normally does very well was very slow.  Anglers have been coming to fish in the afternoon and evenings because of the intense sun.  Better bags were caught over the weekend when on Saturday the weather was a little cooler.  With shorter time to fish,  bags of 20lb and 30lb were recorded only.  Maggots and worm seem to have worked the best.

Match and Pleasure Lake: This lake has remained constantly good through all the hot weather and quite a few decent sizes of bags have been reported.  Ron Cayne of Bury had a great day on Wednesday when he landed a nice 40lb bag of fish.  The biggest bag recorded last week was a nice 80lb bag of fish caught by Roy Scott of Formby.  Roy said his bag was made up of some splendid tench and carp.   Stan Gregson caught the biggest bag which weighed in at 110lb.  Stan was using maggot. A nice 14lb 2oz carp was also caught on this lake.

Fly Lake: Not such a good week for this lake.  Fishing was really difficult due to the hot weather.   I have not even recorded the averages as returns were so poor.  Thank goodness we have fresher weather back this week.  This morning quite a few anglers returned quite a few fish.

General: We are treating the weed in the fly lake this week.  During the hot weather the Canadian pond weed tends to grow quite quickly.  We should have this under control in the next day or so.

Thank you to all those anglers who did in fact try to introduce a friend to the delights of fishing. (Mentioned by me in last weeks email).   We have already had three regulars do this ..... thats great news.

Well folks ....stay cool and look forward to seeing you on the banks.

best wishes
