Pop Up’s Doing the Business at Pendle

Mar 19,2007 by Lin Davies

Hello everyone,

What a change in the weather and there was I reporting that Spring is on the way last week. Just goes to show you shouldn't count your chickens etc............. Here is the fishing report for last week.

Doughnut Lake (pleasure)

Pat Wood, Tony Lever, and Fred Robinson had a great time on this lake and had 20lb bags each. Fish were showing to red maggot, corn and worm. Lots of anglers are reporting good sport on this lake. We think we are in for some cracking sessions this summer. Just a reminder that you can now fish overnight on this lake (if there is not an angling match the following day). Angling Matches are mostly Saturday and Sunday. Not all Saturdays and Sundays are booked for matches so please speak to our friendly bailiffs if you want to check availability.

Main Lake (pleasure)

Philip Curran came in with a big smile on his face during his stint on the main lake. He had a nice 35lb plus bag of silvers (mostly bream and skimmers). Phil said he really enjoyed his day at Pendle View. Mr. Charles Kenners had a great day too when he fished the dam wall and landed a nice bag of mixed silvers. Worm, and Van Den Eynde secret ground bait seemed to be doing well.

Main Lake (Carp)

Fish are showing all over the lake at present. We have not had any big fish to report. Pop up boilies seem to be working. The pegs that have yielded most are 24/25, 71/72, 87/88. The following carp have been reported as caught. 15lb 7oz, 5lb ghostie, 6lb ghostie, 7lb grass, 4lb common, 12lb common, and a 9lb ghostie.

Fly Lake

Quite a good week this week with good returns. Anglers have tried a few different flys and different ones have worked for different anglers. It would be hard to say which has worked the best. I had a great email from one of the anglers who fished the fly lake last week. He said "Nothing beats the thrill of actually seeing a fish take your fly." He went on to say fly fishing is a very emotional time to spend your leisure time - there are some highs and some lows." I guess its a great pass time and a way of forgetting the day to day pressures. Here are the averages for the last week.

Monday 3.5
Tuesday 4.4
Wednesday 2.2
Thursday No anglers
Friday 3.3
Saturday 3.2
Sunday Only one angler due to bad weather conditions

Well folks thats all for now - hope to see you on the banks.

best wishes

Lin at Pendle View
