Fishery News: Litter has become a major problem on some of our waters, particularly the Yew tree reservoir, members must take this as a final warning!!! if you are found leaving litter on any of Newton le Willows AA waters you will be expelled from the association. If you are found with litter on your peg you will be expelled. Members taking alcohol on to our waters will be expelled on a permanent basis, If you are found taking tins on to our waters you will be suspended or expelled.

The Yew Tree Reservoir is right on form with carp showing well into double figures, 12year old Amy Marcroft had a brace of mirrors 11, and 9lbs on worm and biscuit. Association secretary, Eddie Marcroft had a fully scaled mirror of 11lbs on pole and 1.5lbs line, with double maggot offered on a size twenty hook. plus bream to 6lbs and roach to over the pound on maggot and corn, Adam Bissell caught a 18lbs mirror carp, Paul Hazeldine had a 15lbs mirror carp, all caught last Monday.
The Vulcan Reservoir is producing some very good catches of mixed fish, small carp, tench, skimmers, roach, Ide’s, rudd and perch, are all providing sport to maggot, corn, casters, pinkies, bread punch and meat.

The upper and lower pound sections of the canal are both fishing well for bronze and silver fish from small to large what ever you quarry is, maggot or caster offered on the drop will catch you plenty of fish on these sections, these two sections are available on day ticket, £4-00 adult £1-50 junior.

Penkford bridge which is a strictly members only section is fishing very well roach catches are numbers game, but some nice carp well into double figures including koi’s, brownies to 6lbs, tench to 8lbs, perch, rudd and bream are all showing and providing great sport here.

Haydock Park farm waters are fishing very well both for silver fish and bronze fish alike, maggot or caster will see you catching well and big baits will get you into the carp bream or even koi’s to 8lbs in the lagoon. Police may be called in to investigate the criminal damage to the pegs on these waters and the theft of the lock from the entrance gate.

Membership is still available at Newton social & cabaret club Patterson St, Off Cross lane, on Monday Nights at 8-30, new seniors please bring 2 small photo’s for your ID pass.

The Wednesday Night members Sweepstake: The water level is still very low on this Lower Pound and members where losing big fish off the line, this most surely affects the weights at the end of the match, gearing up is the name of the game on this section. The winner was Mick Rogers on peg 114 with tench and skimmers on pole and caster for 6lbs-0ozs-0drms. Second place went to the formidable Eddie Cook, he’s always around the frame! on peg 122, with tench, roach and skimmers for 5-15-4. Third place went to Dave Leyland on peg 116 with tench, roach and a small eel, for 3-6-0. Bolton tackle dealer Gordon Shorrocks came in fourth with a small carp and roach for 3-3-4.
