Rain fails to dampen spirits at Llyn Y Gors

Oct 23,2006 by Chris Coe

Despite the atrocious weather, Llyn Y Gors has managed to consistently produce top quality fishing this week with specimen anglers leaving well satisfied.

John and James Davies banked two gorgeous mirror carp at the sizes of 24lb 4oz and 22lb 6oz from Thompson's Pool. Both beauties were tempted on 15mm Solar Club Mix boilies and set the scene for some great fishing in spite of all the rain. Simon Atkins also joined in the action by catching a lovely 19lb 4oz Mirror Carp from 'The Rock' using Mainline Pulse boilies.

Meanwhile, on The Old Carp Lake, Mark Davidson continued his 'on fire' form to land three cracking fish this week with an 11lb 8oz Common Carp, a 7lb 12oz Mirror and a superb 17lb 4oz Ghost Carp to complete the trio. Mark was fishing the 'New Bay' of The Old Carp Lake and was delighted with his personal best ghostie. The ghost carp was enticed by again 15mm Solar Club Mix boilies whilst Mark's other two fish were caught using Nash Bling boilies. A 12lb 3oz ghost/commonm carp hybrid was also landed by Nick Slater with Mainline Pro Activ Pineapple boilies on 'The Backs' after determinedly sitting through blanking sessions.

The big news this week is the stocking of the new specimen lake 'The Karpium' due to open in March 2008. 50 Common carp to 14lb have been introduced to the new lake this week from the stock ponds to grow onto 20lb fish by the time of the opening. These will then be followed by 120 Mirror carp ranging from 12lb to 17lb from Mark Simmons which will be delivered and stocked on the 1st November and the 28th November. Once again, these fish should be hitting the 20lb plus mark by the time of opening and will be joined by a fresh stocking of 20lb+ carp from breeder Mark Simmons early next year; adding to what is already a fantastic, picturesque lake. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding 'The Karpium' with bookings already being taken for 2008.
