Split Fin banked at 30lb 2oz - Llyn Y Gors Fishery Report 07/05/06

May 11,2006 by Adam Bunting

Planning permission was received on 3rd May for a new 4 acre lake to be named "THE KARPIUM". One hundred 20lb plus fish are on order for November 2007 delivery. Initial stock will be C4's between 11 lb - 13 lb and commons from Llyn Y Gors stock ponds in 2006. The new lake is planned to be opened March/April 2008.

Barrie the duck rescued one year ago, hand reared and pure white in colour had 13 chicks, all are doing well, some are pure yellow and may turn out white like their mother!

Stunning weather over the past week and some stunning carp to go with it!. There were personal bests broken on both carp lakes with anglers of all ages enjoying quality sport. Youngster Adam Owen landed a new personal best mirror of 10lb during his 24 hour session on the Old Carp Lake. Adam fished Derek's Mountain and also banked a 8 lb mirror both on Nutrabaits Trigga boilies.

Rob Gibson caught five fish during a weekend session on the Old Carp Lake. Rob fished "The Point" catching two ghosties weighing 9 lb and 10lb, one 11lb mirror and two commons of 8lb and 9lb. Rob fished Techni Spice and Strawberry boilies.
Jason Dudley netted his first ever catfish weighing 12 lb 3 oz. Jason fished "The Door" swim on the Old Lake and was made up when his rod screamed off, and after a long fight, had his first cat. Jason choice of bait was Heathrow Baits Red Indian boilies. Well done Jason.

Jason Payne decided on The Old Lake catching two catfish of 18lb and 12lb 4 oz, followed by three carp to 11 lb. Jason who landed his first mirror on Thompson's last week continued his form with an excellent session. Jason opted for the "Old Bay" and landed all five fish on Nash Formula Fish boilies pellet. Plenty of catfish on the move as John Aspinall caught his first ever cat, weighing 12lb on Mainline Maple 8 boilie.

Arthur Pessoll spent a week in Dappledown with friends Steve and David Dunbobbin. Fishing the Old Carp Lake Arthur and co landed plenty of jack pike to 8 lb on roach deadbait, Steve landed his first pike of 8 lb on a sardine dead. Steve fished the "New Bay" and caught the snapper on a sardine deadbait. David Dunbobbin caught a personal best 18 lb common "by hand" during his day session on the "Front" swim. Arthur had just lost the fish which must of been trailing line, the fish swam through David's rods who then managed to pull the fish from the water with his hands. Different but never the less a fish in the net!!. David also caught two ghosties of 15 lb 5 oz and 16 lb during the session.

Personal bests were'nt lasting long over on Thomspon's Pool, Gav Jones landed an 18 lb ghostie beating his previous best by over 4 lb. Gav fished "The Nightmare" swim and tempted the beautiful fish on Solar BYT boilies.

A new PB for Gav Jones

Jimmy Brown caught a personal best 27 lb 1 oz mirror during a 48 hour session in the "Double Bay". It was Jimmy's first fish from Thompson's but was well worth the wait. Jimmy was also fishing Solar's excellent BYT boilies.
