Stunning mirror makes the Boundary

May 25,2006 by Julian Grattidge

Gary Howson contacted North West Carp to tell us about his first carp from Boundary Water Park after a couple of years trying.

The stunning mirror was taken on a snowman presentation consisting of a maple-8 bottom bait and a milky toffee pop-up - fished solitary with no freebies. The take came within half an hour of casting out whilst Gary was adjusting the bobbin on the line. Having just swapped the rod over from the left hand alarm to the right hand alarm it proved a puzzling experience trying to work out why the line was so tight, until a ticking clutch eventually gave the game away!

The fish, which was caught on the 29th of April, weighed 19lb 4oz, and as you can see from the smile, was more than a welcome arrival!

Site Editor Julian Grattidge likes nothing more than a good natter about all things carp. Indeed, working from home, his kitchen is usually full of passing waifs, strays, and Northern-Monkey mates who just happen to be passing by. Good Job he’s got a big kettle!
